The Library started as a small library to service, Mustapha Akanbi, Chambers but progressed to its present status where it occupies a story building on the expansive Mustapha Akanbi residential compound at Agba-Dam Rd, 240102, Ilorin, Kwara. Alhaji(Dr) Ibrahim Sulieman Gambari CFR declared the library open on Tuesday, November 15, 2016.
The Mustapha Akanbi library & Resource Centre is a private community library that provides high-quality and efficient information services to library patrons regardless of social status, age, sex, religion. It is a library that serves the general public's needs regardless of age, religion, or social status. It has a collection of over five thousand books and non-book materials on various subjects ranging from Law, Politics, Biographies, Religion, Social Sciences, Almanacs, Encyclopedias, etc. It has an archive with a collection of newspapers, magazines, manuscripts, and artifacts. It has over a hundred bibliographical materials on the Founder Late Justice Hon. Muhammad Mustapha Adebayo Akanbi who in his life-time had a penchant for writing and acquiring books for the development and advancement of mankind in various spheres of life including law, politics and religion, hence the collection of books and non-book materials.
